July 2, 2018 in News

In Florida, nursing home residents who are on the Medicaid long term care program are allowed to retain a personal needs allowance. The allowance is generally spent on items or services that will solely benefit the Medicaid recipient. These often include: clothing, personal hygiene products, vitamins or supplements, beauty or barber shop services, co-pays for prescriptions not otherwise covered by insurance, eyeglasses, hearing aids, etc.

Starting July 1, 2018, the personal needs allowance has been increased from $105.00 to $130.00 per month.
